Jagua gel is a temporary tattoo product made from the juice of the Genipa Americana fruit, also known as the Jagua fruit. It produces a dark blue-black stain on the skin that lasts for about one to two weeks. The gel is a popular and generally safe alternative to henna for creating temporary body art, especially among those who desire a darker stain.
After Jagua or Red henna has stained the skin, it becomes difficult to remove. Washing the skin with soap and washcloth is a technique than can be used but we at Haven of Henna do not recommend due to its abrasiveness.
The best route is to allow the stain to naturally fade and exfoliate in the shower once or twice a week to quicken the process.
Red henna is primarily made from the dried and powdered leaves of the henna plant (Lawsonia inermis). The red pigment in henna, called lawsone, is what gives it its characteristic color. This powder, when mixed with liquid, creates a paste that can be used to stain skin, hair, and nails a reddish-brown color.
